Today one of my good friends laid his dad to rest after a four year long battle with cancer 😔💔
After having recently gone through my own battle with cancer, this loss was incredibly heartbreaking and raw for me. It really hit home how lucky and blessed I am to be a survivor.
I regularly feel so furious and helpless that this disease takes and impacts many lives.
I often feel overwhelmed with anxiety and fear that I may one day relapse.
Today these burdens were put into perspective by the remarkable strength, grace, acceptance, peace and positivity my friend portrayed saying his final goodbyes to his beloved dad/best friend/hero.
He focused only on positive memories, the qualities he cherished in his dad and the gratitude he had for the unconditional love and friendship they shared.
Life can be so incredibly unfair and even when you had every right to be upset and bitter, you chose to only focus on the good.
Willsy, I can’t express how proud I am of you and how unbelievably inspiring you and your mum were today.
I tried to find a quote to better articulate your phenomenal strength and positive/ passionate/ enthusiastic outlook on life and this one really hit the nail on the head:
•To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
•To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
•To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
•To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
•To think only the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
•To be just as enthusiastic about l the success of others as you are about your own.
•To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
•To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
•To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
•To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
•To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds.
•To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

You are a living example of all of these promises and your dad will be eternally proud of you.
